Marine Layer Wines is a longtime dream of visionary Baron Ziegler. Following the sale of Banshee in 2017, Baron recognized in friend and winemaker Rob Fischer the ideal collaborator to transform his dream into reality. Together, they brought to fruition their shared vision of establishing a brand focused on the Sonoma Coast, drawing exclusively from the finest vineyards in the region.
Driven by a commitment to exploration, precision, and ingenuity, Marine Layer Wines embraces an artisanal approach to winemaking. Our dedication to sustainability, heritage clones, meticulous hand-harvesting, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence serves as the cornerstone of our ethos.
The evocative name, “Marine Layer,” reverently acknowledges the dense fog that cascades from the Pacific Ocean along the Sonoma Coast. Renowned for its cooler climate and challenging conditions, cultivating grapes in this area presents formidable obstacles yet yields incomparable rewards. The extended ripening period affords our grapes nuanced flavors, vibrant acidity, and impeccable balance.
